"Dealing with emotional pain is best done as a meditation.

First understand your emotions, your thoughts, your experience
are not the problem.

The problem comes from gripping them, the contraction
where your attention grabs hold of them and then your emotional pain controls you.

At a certain level, you are doing this contraction.
You are holding yourself together very tightly like a closed fist
or a child gripping tightly to a pile of candy.

It’s that holding, that gripping that separates you from everything.

A lot of traditional spiritual teachings talk about
getting you into a certain state of emotional perfection
in order for real meditation to happen.

But real meditation can also happen in great turmoil,
in great upheaval and often does.

The key is to become aware of your contraction.
Become aware that you are doing that contraction
and you can relax it, you can relax the holding on, the gripping.

What you are usually holding on to is just thoughts,
thought patterns or certain mental positions
that protect you from feeling this moment fully.

But its not the thoughts or mental positions that need to change,
it is relaxing your grip on them.

Allowing everything to be without having to hold on to any of it.

Then this sense of contraction, of being tightly wound
can loosen so that all of the tightly bound thoughts & feelings
are free to play themselves out.

Then it is not about how to deal with emotional pain,
it is simply allowing what needs to pass through.

If you hold on to a handful of marbles, they are seemingly one ball.
But when you let them go, they spread out all over the floor.

It is like that.
When you surrender contraction, that tightly bound sense of you
gets spread out in all directions as energy.

That closed off sense of you
becomes formless, fluid and without boundaries.

Thoughts, emotions can still exist in that fluidity,
but are experienced as energy.

You experience it all as one energy.

Much love,

Kip”
