Question:

Dear Kip,

It may be easy for you to go into bliss, love etc but for us others less evolved, not so easy. Especially working long hours with deranged people. And yes I'm not a monk, try to get some quiet time, listen to your CD, and just trying to keep my head above water, is a challenging thing.

Answer

Why are you defending yourself?  Why are you telling me why you can't be present?  I am not preaching right and wrong.  I am not telling you that you have to be a certain way.  If you ask me how can you feel blissful then I have to tell you, be present.  Be present with whatever way you find yourself to be.  If you are working then let that be.  If you feel depressed, then let these feelings be.  You seem to think I am some "evolved" being that is beyond emotions.  It is the opposite.  All emotions, pain moves through me.  But it moves because there is presence.  Just like it moves when you are present.  Then it is just energy.

I am the wrong person for pity.  I love you too much to have pity on you.  The outer world has to be as it is. It is as it is.  Your judgment on that is only judgment.  Take away the judgment and there is peace.

It is not easy.  It requires your complete focus.  But the alternative is your illusory suffering which comes from all of your judgments and resistance to the way things are.

What I am really suggesting is why not stop banging your head against the wall? Life is not meant to be an easy ride on the merry go round.  it's a roller coaster ride.  If you jump up and down screaming "stop this thing!  I hate this!  What if I fall?  What if I hurt myself?"  then you suffer.  But if you just sit there and watch the ride, you see that nothing is out to get you.  It's just a ride.  And there you remain sitting still inside while everything happens.
